      Post-election results

      By Ravenhawk | November 13, 2006

I did something the other day that I don’t often do.
That is, I actually sat down and read some blogs. Not just any blogs, political blogs. Little thought was put into which ones I was reading. I actually just randomly clicked some stuff on Technorati.
But what I ended up reading rather annoyed me. It was a few “right-wing” people ranting about how the United States is going to collapse, Iraq is going to become a giant base for terrorists, and the world is going to end up being destroyed in nuclear holocaust. And why? Because the Democrats are in control of congress.

The media declared this election to be a “referrendum on Bush.” I’m sure to an extent that this is true. But for people to say that there was nothing else to it is rediculous. Take Sherrod Brown of Ohio. Yes, he was a anti-war candidate, but his main focus was on the economy. Bush and his party didn’t just mess up in Iraq. The economy has been dragging. The common people have been getting screwed as the high income people get tax-cuts.

Republicans were parading about talking about abortion and same-sex marriage and the Democrats were talking about things that people actually care about like education.
Its no suprise that they lost.

It’s true that we will likely begin pulling our troops out of Iraq within the year. But its not like we’re going to immediately pull out everyone. It will be gradual. It seems like those complaining would prefer if we just held up the country forever. There is nothing that people from across the world can acheive to placate the Sunni/Shiite conflict, either. Its a feud that has been going on for over a thousand years; You think they’re going to drop it just to set up a little democracy?

Overall what I hope to see here is that people will just shut up. I mean, I’m all for doomsayers, but only because they’re a wimpy townsperson npc who you can slay for some easy early game experience.
Other than that they just spam my chat with “The end is nigh! Ours is deserved damnation!”
      And that is just annoying.
So really, people, stop speculating. Just sit back and watch. You’ll see how things turn out a lot faster that way.

      Until next time, Comrades.
