EVE Online sweeps the MMORPG.com reader’s choice
By Ravenhawk | January 7, 2007
MMORPG.com recently ran their “reader’s choice awards” where the users were able to nominate games from their list and the games that made it into the final round would be voted upon in a variety of categories.
The Categories were:
Favorite Graphics
Favorite PvE
Favorite PvP
Favorite Story
Most Anticipated
Favorite New Game
Favorite Game
EVE easily on Graphics with 62%.
It won PvE with 52.8 over WoW’s 47.2
PVP it won with 72%
Story: 51
And Favorite Game: 67%
The Forums were in an uproar, with EVE players saying they have the best game ever, and WoW and many other MMO fans saying that the EVE players “are big cheater heads.”
The problem lies in the faulty system mmorpg.com used to decide nominations. They only allowed the games that got 10% of the vote to make it into the actual voting for awards.
So in the end, most categories came down to EVE vs WoW.
So, if you’re a big time fan of another game, and are bummed that EVE kicked those award’s arse, just know this: The results don’t show EVE is the greatest game ever, just that it’s better than WoW…
Or, at least according to that site’s community. And all the EVE players who came from the EVE forums to vote.
Until Next time, Comrades.
