      Oh, the Mayhem!

      By Ravenhawk | February 26, 2007

I’ve spent large portions of the weekend enraptured by Team17’s Worms series. At first I was playing the demo of Worms World Party, which is a game a played years ago and loved. Then I figured, why not? And went to check out the newer Worms games.

Worms Forts and Worms 4: Mayhem, both had a new dimension to them that was quite new to me. That being the third dimension. Rather than a side scrolling comical shooter, I’ve now had three dimensions to work with. Besides this complication, which I eventually was able to get used to, Worms 4 is pretty much the same, good old, blow-stuff-up fun.

Worms Forts on the other hand, gets a little complicated. They throw in this whole build-buildings-to-use-good-weapons thing that gets a little annoying. In the end, I just get frustrated and use my bazooka and grenades. Or at least thats what happened on the last mission I did.

The Forts make me feel like I’m playing a StarCraft or Civilization wannabe. Don’t get me wrong. I love strategy games, its just not what I had been looking for when I got the game.

Either way, the games are quite addicting, and I’d recommend at least picking up the demos for one.
Be warned however, that they’re the timed demos.
My Worms World Party demo ran out when I was in the middle of a game…

      Until Next time, comrades.
