Religious Holidays in a Secular World?

Its always interesting to note the large-scale celebration of Christian holidays, even by people who aren’t religious. For instance, my family is completely atheist, however, I just spent twenty minutes going all over the house trying to find colorful dyed eggs hidden by my dad and little brother.
Regardless of their religious origins, many such holidays are becoming widespread in their celebration in manners that are completely irrelevant. Take my egg hunting. Was it at all related to the resurrection of Christ? No.
In some strange twist, it has become a tradition to paint eggs, hide them, find them, and then eat them. Religious holidays are increasingly being taken over by the nonreligious. Do I think this is bad? Again, no.
But thats probably because, as a Marxist, I applaud the corrosion of organized religion’s hold on the world. And I like eggs.

Happy Holidays!

I hope you all had good ones. I know I did.
I got a nice pile of Holiday swag, the best of which I’d say is my new 200 gig hard drive and my new computer chair. I must say it is a great improvement over the piano stool I’ve been using for the past couple years.
With the holidays over it means two things; I should once again have time to be getting my updates on schedule and with my new hard drive, I’ll once again be able to do Gaming besides Puzzle Pirates on my Desktop. So I should get back to gaming updates a little faster. While I love my laptop, I hate its mouse, so that can interfere greatly with my Gaming.
So, overall, I hope everyone had a good break. I’m currently stuffed on cake as today is my birthday, and I’ll be off in not too long to go finish it off with a cool movie.
